Behind The Lens

Location

I completed a photographic course for three years at Chester College including life models and portraiture, this particular photo was taken in a private studio in Saltney Chester one Friday evening. A group of five photographs got together and the studio arranged a model from Manchester to pose for the evening we all had set times my time was 7-30

Time

This particular session was taken on a Friday around 7-30 on a worm summer evening.

Lighting

The background was a light grey with a soft box on either side, the lighting was changed around to suit the photographers needs enabling the light and shadows to catch all the body angles. I was second on witch enabled me to note were the light was falling using a drawing to remember the lighting at its best.

Equipment

The camera used was a Nikon D2H speed light sb - 800 Nikon, Tripod Bilora Lens Nikon 24-70mm 1:8G

Inspiration

I had lots of ideas of what I wonted to try that evening but this was the one I had in mind and i discussed it with the model, I had seen a similar image in a magazine and I particularly liked the outcome, this made the evening for myself and the model.

Editing

Due to the high number of image's taken I can pick out the best shots and do very little processing.

In my camera bag

I have changed my camera body to a D800e. Lenses Nikon 24-70 mm1:8G studio work, 80-400mm 1:4.5-5,6D for landscape and a Macro sp 90mm F/.82 and cleaning cloths

Feedback

Use a tried and tested model don't rush sometimes more is less talk to your model before and during the shoot put them at there ease help them and you to enjoy the shoot. If it is your first shoot view other photographers work for ideas' but try to imagine something different for yourself and keep it simple don't rush.
