The silhouette of a man walking down the front steps of église Saint-Gervais-Saint-Protais, with the caserne Lobau seen in the background. The main façade of Saint-Gervais church was finished in 1621, while the caserne Lobau was designed by architect Louis Janvier and built in 1861.
During the repression the bloody week at the end of the Commune de Paris uprising, communards were executed in the courtyard of the caserne Lobau.
