Two worlds, on different sides of the globe, two people, 6,574 miles apart, connected by the bond of their friendship. About 2 years ago, my dear friend Roni, whom I had met in 5th grade, moved to Israel, which may have crushed me, but we still keep in constant touch. I wanted to demonstrate this idea of despite us living far away, our bond is unbreakable, especially in the time we are in right now with the COVID-19 pandemic situation. To symbolize our connection, I decided to have the both of us wear our respective parts of a puzzle piece friendship necklace I sent to her for her 13th birthday, with her puzzle piece saying “We might be close or far apart, but it’s okay.”, with my portion having “Best friends like us stay close in heart.” etched into it. I took photos of myself sitting on my bed in different poses and then sent them to her and asked her to copy my photos poses in her own room. I then combined the 2 photos into one to show our two different “worlds”, resulting in the creation of “Two Worlds, One Bond”.
