Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in Bowral, NSW, Australia. I was taking one of my daily strolls around my neighborhood when I took this.

Time

It was around 5.30pm. The sun was starting to set but still shone high in the sky.

Lighting

This photo was taken during one of Australia's worst Bushfire seasons. Although where this photo was taken was quite far away from the fires the smoke had reached us and with the smoke and the red hot sun, although a stark reminder of the fires in the distance, it provided beautifully colored sky's of reds, pinks and yellows.

Equipment

When doing my daily stroll around the block I only carry my Panasonic Lumix TZ80 and it's carry case which has a strap for hanging off my shoulders. Sometimes to capture a great shot it's not about having all the big bulky equipment but rather a good light camera to make life more accessible

Inspiration

I saw the sun shining through the gap in the roses and could not resist as in the dim reality of what was happening with the terrible Bushfires I saw for the first time beauty in the chaos.

Editing

No post-processing or retouching was used ft or this photo.

In my camera bag

I like to keep my camera bag as simple as possible. Apart from the camera I like to keep at least 2 SD cards. There is nothing worse than running out of storage in your device whilst out taking photos. I also carry cleaning wipes for my camera lens.

Feedback

My advice is advice is to enjoy what you're doing and take the photos that interest you. If you like what you see then chances are others will as well. What I've always loved about photography is that it is my point of view and I get to share that with others.
