This photo was shot at the Iris Garden at Meiji Jingu Gyoen (Inner Graden), Yoyogi, Tokyo, Japan. I remember it well. It was my first time shooting the nature of Japan as a travel photographer.Time
I will never forget this moment. I planned a whole day to visit the well-known Meiji Shrine in Tokyo. I decided to take a stroll away from the big crowd into the inner garden around noon on a hot summer day in August. When I walked into the garden I encountered the beauty of Japan's most intimate and delicate nature and was greeted by a beautiful lake full of giant peace Lilly's like I've never had seen before. Through the leaves, the sun was beaming its light onto this wonderful specimen so I tried to capture this amazing scenery in front of me.Lighting
This photo was taken outside on a bright hot summer day. I used no extra lighting. I wanted to really show the elegance and intimacy of pure nature. Since I was in a garden surrounded by trees. I wanted in front of the scene until the sunlight hit the leaves of the surrounding trees just right so it would function as a diffusor.Equipment
This was shot on a Canon EOS 700D with a Canon EFS 50-250mm lens. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
This was my first time traveling to Japan as a photographer. As part of a series, I wanted this photo to capture the intimacy and elegance of eastern nature inside the world's biggest metropolis. In my opinion, this shot shows the atmosphere of secret beauty that is just waiting to behold.Editing
I used Lightroom to apply a vignette. In this way, I achieved more depth in the image as well as the sensation of intimacy and secrecy. It gives the green leaves in the background a moodier impression. In my camera bag
I mostly take photos when I travel so I have a really basic setup which includes: My Canon EOS 700D, a Canon EFS 50-250mm lens, a Canon EFS 18-55mm, and Opteko macro wide-angle lens. An Aperture MC wireless light, an aluminum mini tripod, DJI stabilizer.Feedback
The world is full of secret beauty like this. So take an adventure and visit more unknown parts of the world. Take the time to really soak up the atmosphere of the place you're in and try to capture the feeling that makes you most excited. In this way, you will make more original shots.
