I took this photo in North Canton, Ohio, at my grandparents house. We had gone over to social distance with them, and my grandfather periodically will hand me flowers and tell me what they're called. He gave me this beautiful little purple flower, and told me what it's called though I don't remember. I thought to myself, this could be a neat photo.Time
It was about mid-afternoon when we arrived at my grandparents, we had been talking with them for a while when the flower got handed to me. I cannot remember the exact time, but it had to be about 3PM.Lighting
The sun was a little to my left, a little overhead and provided pretty perfect lighting to capture shadows and details.Equipment
This was taken on my Moto Playz2 phone camera, without any other equipment.Inspiration
It was really the calmness of the day, and the particular beauty of the flower and what we were doing. I always have my eye out for a creative opportunity as well, and I thought I could create something brilliant out of something small.Editing
Yes, I already had in mind what I wanted to do when I took the photo. It seemed boring when it was in full color, but my nails and the flower where both a purple color. After I put the picture in black and white I was ready to bring out the purple on my nails and the flower. I quickly realized that my nails took away from the flowers beauty and I left them in black and whiteIn my camera bag
I don't carry I camera bag, I typically take photos on my phone and make them look as proffessional as possible in post. So I only carry my phone.Feedback
I would say to always look for creative opportunities no matter where you are. Some shots you find will take you by surprise, and don't be afraid if things aren't perfect.
