This is a photo of my Mom taken at a family member’s home on Thanksgiving (2019). We had finished dinner and everyone was relaxed and sitting around the table enjoying each others company.Time
The time of day this was taken was late afternoon, but not yet dusk.Lighting
Other than the ambient lighting in the room I used the pop up flash on the camera.Equipment
This is a handheld shot taken with a Nikon D810, using a Nikon 50mm f/1.8, with the following settings: 1/125 f/2.4 ISO1100, using the pop up flash on the camera.Inspiration
I looked over at her and she was laughing while telling a story. She saw me raise my camera and smiled.Editing
The only post processing I did was to crop the photo to make it a little more balanced. In my camera bag
Nikon D810 and typically my go to lens being a Nikon 24-120mm f/4.0 lens.Feedback
My advice is to not rely so heavily on post processing. I am far from being a pro but my practice is to get the best shot in camera. The great thing about digital photography is the ability to post-process and that helps when you’ve taken a good quick shot but it’s not perfect. It’s a great tool to tweak the photo a little.
