â¢ï¸ CHERNOBYL, Take 2! â¢ï¸
Facebook reminded me that it's been a year to the month since I made my amazing (and eventful) trip inside the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone.
At the time, I only edited and shared 11 photos. This is partly because I wanted to focus my attention on "Nature's Reclamation" of Prypiat (see my blog - www.hocking-photography.co.uk-post-chernobyl-reclamation), but mostly because I just didn't know how to go about editing these spring-time shots in an aesthetic suited to the subject.
Over the last year, and particularly the last few weeks, I've learned how to Split Tone & Colour Grade in Lightroom for a more cinematic look - together with the subtle use of creating an "Orton Effect" for a glowy-dreamy look. This has opened the door for me to edit and share dozens more photos from the trip - which I'll do over the coming weeks...

The abandoned dodgems at the iconic amusement park in the town of Prypiat, near the Chernobyl power plant.
It was due to have its grand opening on 1st May 1986, in time for the May Day celebrations. These plans were cancelled on 26 April 1986, when the Chernobyl disaster occurred a few kilometres away.
