An extremely dilapidated street sign on rue d’Aboukir at the corner of rue Montmartre. Rue d’Aboukir was named in memory of the French army’s victory over the Ottoman Empire, July 25th 1799.
Rue d’Aboukir runs past place du Caire which is the intersection of other streets and covered passages named after the battle: rue du Nil, rue du Caire, galerie du Caire, and passage du Caire.
