The statue named le «Génie de la Liberté» at the top of la Colonne de Juillet in place de la Bastille, with orange clouds behind. The monument was designed by architect Jean-Antoine Alavoine, following a commission from King Louis-Philippe in 1830.
The interior and the observation deck at the top of the column have been closed to the public for the last few decades at least, for safety reasons.
