Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in Indonesia, in the island of Nusa Penida, next to Bali. This was an spectacular beach called Atuh beach.

Time

This pictures is from a great trip we took to Indonesia with two good friends. We stayed some weeks visiting Bali, Gili Islands and Nusa Islands and after that trip... I guess I place Indonesia in my top 3 from south east of Asia. To reach Atuh beach in Nusa Penida that afternoon, it was a hell of a ride with the motorbike because of the bumpy roads. Also being 3 friends meant 2 of us were in the same bike and that was even bumpier!

Lighting

The picture was taken in the afternoon, and the sun was still up. It would have been even better some hours later with the sun light hitting the water more diagonally.

Equipment

I was completely amazed by the blue water so I couldn't stop flying my drone all above these beaches despite the wind sometimes being harsh.

Inspiration

I was completely amazed by the blue waters so I couldn't stop flying my drone all above these beaches despite the wind sometimes being harsh. I loved Indonesia and I was just super inspired during the trip.

Editing

I developed the raw 2 times, one for the water and another for the sand, and I merged the two layers with the different raws.

In my camera bag

I usually travel with my full frame DSLR with a zoom (about 18-100), a prime lens 50mm or 35mm because I love taking portraits with them, a tripod and a drone.

Feedback

In this case, get familiar with the drone and try to see the good pictures thinking about composition. Sometimes we are not aware of how lines and curves from above, make a normal shot an amaizing one.
