Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in a hill covered by a sunflower field, in a district called Marilândia, or Meeryland, nearby my home-town Arealva (Brazil).

Time

Right as the Sun started setting i came upon the fields, the terrain made it difficult to get a perfect horizon alignement, but the resulting effect kind of reminded me of the background on Monalisa.

Lighting

I wanted a frame that included the direct natural sunlight and a clear shot of the bees, so due to the curvature on the flower, i crouched on the ground and managed to get some of the fleeting light.

Equipment

I used a plain Canon Rebel T6 DSLR with a 17-55mm macro lens, no other equipments.

Inspiration

Passing trough the area the yellow color against the brown leaf cover, the contrast just pulled me in, while on the field i noticed many of them were covered in insects, so i looked for one with bees to add to that contrast.

Editing

I corrected some of the blown color on the sky on the background, and lowered some of the brightness overall, not much postprocessing needed.

In my camera bag

Unfortunatly due to the extremely expensive prices here in Brazil, i only have my simple starting kit (Canon Rebel T6, 17-55 Macro Lens), and depending on the subject i carry a white silk/rounded mirror for artificial lighting.

Feedback

Lots of exploring trough the countryside following the Sun, and a LOT of pacience when dealing with flying subjects like bees.
