Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Helsingborg, Sweden. Few years ago I went there on a trip to support my friends during their sport event.

Time

This beautiful sunset got me speechless during my sightseeing tour through the city. I wasn´t even prepared for it as my tripod was laying in the car and I wouldn't be able to get it on time. So I improvised and stabilizes my camera on my friend's back - to hold it as stable as possible.

Lighting

I loved how the sky was turning into this beautiful gradient with blue and orage tones. And look at the reflections on the sauna´s small windows - it looks like the light was turned on - but actually, it´s just the last shades of the sun - as if the sun now went to our homes and turned on lights.

Equipment

My all-time favourite camera - Canon Mark III and Canon 24-70 2.8mm lenses. I love to use them during my trips - it has nice wide-angle as well as perfect telelens.

Inspiration

While I travel - I do want to take pictures of urban life and how they are implemented into the city aspects. These unique saunas - and it´s amazing building is like floating over the water. And with sunsets like these - spending time there must be a real pleasure!

Editing

I wanted to bring out the colors I saw with my own eyes. And as we all know - pictures straight from the camera mostly turn out dull and doesn´t show the real beauty. So I enhanced colors and made some adjustments to the building - so it won´t get lost in the overall composition.

In my camera bag

Bag is the wrong word here... I usually have a separate suitcase for all my equipment. And even I can´t always take everything - my Canon Mark III ist always with me. As I never know - where I go and what I am going to see - my lens companion is Canon 24-70mm. I think it is the best for a wide range of photos. Sometimes I pack my Sigma Art 35mm 1.4f. If I go on an action trip - I pack my GoPro8 - it is small and makes great videos and pictures as well. And I can´t imagine my trips without aerial photos - for these I use DJI Mavic Pro 2 and I absolutely love it.

Feedback

Don´t be lazy and take pictures during your trip. Even if you are not in the mood, or the weather conditions are not the best - trust me - later you will thank me. Plan your trips, look for unique locations, see which daytime works for your style and purpose. And share your pictures with viewbug! We would love to see them!
