This is a wildlife photograph of a Pantherophis Alleghaniensis or Eastern Rat Snake crawling along a small limb in search of some prey. The Rat snake is a large constrictor snake that is common to the east coast of the United States. It has several "local" names such as Rat snake, Pilot snake, Black Rat Snake, Pilot black snake, chicken snake and everglades Rat Snake. It is a non-venomous snake that seeks to avoid contact with humans.
