Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in my apartment in Dublin, Ireland. I am a self-thought photographer with a background in graphic design.

Time

I took this photo around 12 pm on a cloudy rainy day, typical Irish weather. This was taken on March 20, 2020.

Lighting

For this image, the lighting was very simple. I position my self next to the bedroom window, having the natural light coming to the side. I didn't need any diffusers since the outside was cloudy and that worked to my advantage.

Equipment

This was shot on a Nikon D7200 with a 17-55mm, d2.8 Sigma lens. I used a tripod and a 10-second timer.

Inspiration

This was a composition idea that came to me just sitting on my bedroom bed, watching the wardrobe closet door, and thinking to myself that will be cool if a hand holding some kind of object( the guitar in this case). The wardrobe closet was too small for me to fit, so I had to take the door down and place it in a way that will be easy for me to get behind and pick up the guitar.

Editing

I edited the raw file using Lightroom Classic. I did some color correction and cropping to achieve the final composition.

In my camera bag

Since I have taken this image I made the switch from Nikon to Fuji system. When I go out for street or landscape photography I carry in my bag the Fuji X-T2 and 3 lenses the 18-55mm f.28, 16 mm f2.8, 50mm f.2 along with the Mavic Pro 2 drone. I carry 3 batteries for the camera and drone along with a small tripod, Nd filter, and of course SD cards.

Feedback

My only advice is to keep being creative, make sure you understand the basics rules, and practice every day.
