This photo was taken at my home studio. The items featured here are from a collection of cobalt glass that I inherited from my Mother when she passed away in 2005. She collected many beautiful vintage and antique items which I love to photograph and share them with the word through my photography.Time
Working in my studio to photograph these treasured objects is typically an all day project, but I enjoy spending the time cleaning, arranging and photographing to be time very well spent.Lighting
The image was shot in my studio using a single soft box light, and slightly under exposed for dramatic effect.Equipment
My camera is still a dinosaur, but I have been told it’s not the camera but the photographer that makes a good photo. Being a firm believer that is the case, I shoot with a Canon T 1i camera, until I can get good enough to afford a full frame or upgrade. Here, I used my nifty 50 lens for the wide aperture, and a tripod.Inspiration
The inspiration for this photo was the hope that sharing the beauty of the wonderful things Mother collected, would help to keep her memory alive.Editing
I do some work in post, but try to keep it to a minimum. In this image, I did a bit of cropping and removal of tiny flaws in the glass and background. In my camera bag
When I go out, I keep my gear in a well padded diaper bag ( makes it theft proof). I always have my 50mm 1.4, 60mm macro, 75-300 zoom, 10-22 wide angle, reflectors, tripod, flash, and the dinosaur. You never know what will come up.Feedback
Just keep at it until you get what you want. I have been working to improve my photography since my dinosaur was new, so its been a long haul, but I have loved every minute of it. Persistence is the key.
