Location
While hiking Dark Hollow Falls in Shenandoah National Park.Time
Some time around midday or half way through the hike. It was refreshing to take a dip in the water after the hikeLighting
I wanted the shot to look relaxing and peaceful, as if you had reached a tranquil destination. The lighting was natural, I used a variable ND filter to motion blue the water and I set the photo for a warm feel.Equipment
This was shot with a Cabin 80D with a 18-135mm lens.Inspiration
Nature is my favorite thing to shoot. Nature has always been my escape, peace and personal enjoyment and I enjoy capturing moments from it to share with others.Editing
Because I was using a 18-135mm I had to shoot 6 photos and stitch them together in Lightroom. After wards I did some brightening in the shadow areas, contrast, a touch of saturation and some other basic edits. In my camera bag
Normally I have my Canon 80D with a 24-75mm f2.8, a back up Canon T5 with a 10-18mm wide lens, a 18-135mm lens, ND filters, extra batteries, remote shutter, a tripod, a speed flash, and some business cards.Feedback
Take your time. You can hike any trail and miss dozens of awe inspiring photos. Take your time, sit and observe. Explore angles, find a subject and tell its story. If there isnt much of a story, then what emotion do you feel when you observe it? Recreate that in image.
