Location
I was out in the San Gabriel Mountains enjoying time with my family.Time
It was about 10am, and i thought i wasn't going to find an amazing shot by the end of the day. But to my surprise, I ended up spotting this bird on a dead tree and i knew that was my chance.Lighting
I had to rely on mother nature for my lighting. Luckily it was cloudy, so the light was not harsh.Equipment
This was shot on a Canon powershot sx530 hs. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
I am someone who loves to be out and about with nature. I always have my camera whenever I go out to the mountains, because I love seeing the diverse color palette mother nature uses. I went with the idea of finding contrasting colors already in mind, so seeing this blue ball on some dead sticks made me feel proud of myself.Editing
I used Photoshop, at the time i did not have access to Lightroom, and adjusted the basics: curves, shadows, highlights, etc. It was a small challenge trying to edit this photo without making the blue pop out too dramatically. In my camera bag
I'm just a kid who is a freshman in college for the 2020 school year, and unfortunately i can't afford to buy equipment. I am thankful to have my canon powershot, because it is all i need. I would love to upgrade my equipment one day, but for now I am pushing my powershot to its limit.Feedback
Go out and have fun shooting! You should always have your camera on, and keep your eyes open so you won't miss any opportunities. One thing i did learn from this shot is to be patient. The moment will come when the composition you imagined will appear in front of your lenses!
