Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo of myself at my home, I notice that there is a nice contrast when I shot with a high frame rate by my window which emphasizes the lighting in the background. I did it by the wall at my house to keep the background simple and just focus on my portrait.

Time

I can't recall the exact time, I remember taking it in the afternoon when the light was really illuminating through the window.

Lighting

I just took advantage of the time of day and sunlight, everything else is just setting up a high F-stop, high frame rate, and a low ISO.

Equipment

I used my canon rebel T6 with the 18-55mm kit zoom lens. I set it up at automatic focus to make sure the photo is nice and sharp. I didn't use anything else, I didn't even edit it of Photoshop nor Lightroom.

Inspiration

I did a series of black and white photos and I love taking black and white photos with high contrast and wanted to do a self-portrait in that style.

Editing

No. Sometimes I don't do post-processing when I shoot it well with the equipment I already own.

In my camera bag

I usually have my external flash, a kit of SD cards (raging from 8-124GB), An adjustable ND 50mm filter, a 18-55mm zoom lens, a 55-250mm zoom lens, a red filter lens, and an external flash remote.

Feedback

For this photo, I had to just take advantage of what I had and take multiple photos of myself (which is difficult to do, especially when you don't have a flip viewfinder). My advice is to take multiple photos until you have something that you like, it might be daunting at times but it is always worth it over rushing to make a mediocre photo.
