Behind The Lens

Location

I've lived in this 300 square foot apartment for 4 years, I've always photographed myself using a 10 second self timer. This place never felt like home. This photo changed my view of myself as well as my surroundings and brought me back to my passion of photography. This photo turned my house into my home.

Time

Late one evening, scrolling through old photos I had taken of myself I decided to teris my furniture around my apartment and put on the self timer. Trying to balance my Nikon on a pile of books, I had several shots I loved. This one is my favorite. Time doesn't exist in this photo.

Lighting

Blackout curtains and a lamp with no shade. I think that perfectly describes the emotions I felt before taking this photo. The emotions were reversed once I saw this photo. Light entered my soul and relit my passion.

Equipment

I used my Nikon L8200, hiked up the ISO. Put on a 10 second timer, jumped on my bed and voila!

Inspiration

Nike inspired this photo. I had no motivation but I did it. I thought to myself "put on your kicks and Just Do It".

Editing

No post processing, slight lighting and color changed to black and white with a basic editing program on my laptop.

In my camera bag

I don't have a bag yet! I'm a self taught amateur photographer, I D.I.Y majority of my photoshoots with table cloth backdrops, blank walls and no equipment other than my camera.

Feedback

JUST DO IT. Leap into life, leap into your passion without over thinking or pre planning.
