Location
(This is the Instagram version, the original one has a much higher quality) This photo was taken during a family vacation in Cartagena-Colombia, the Hotel cancelled our daytrip plan suddenly and we found ourselves stucked inside the hotel with no plan for the day, so my sister decided to find a plan by our own, and after a few calls we were sailing in a private rented boat along the caribbean coast, with an hour left for arriving to the city, I saw the skyline in front of us with this gorgeous cloud over it, I ran to the very front of the ship, I think it is called the Pulpit, and shot several times, adjusting my settings to have a sharp image in the middle of the moving waves.Time
this was taken between 3-4.30 pmLighting
I don't have ND filters, but I really want to get some, this will save a lot of time in post!Equipment
Canon 60D, 18-55lens.Inspiration
when you are sailing, sometimes the vision of the sea and the sky alone looks flat, but when something appears in between, you can find very interesting composition possibilities, that is what happened here, The city just modeled for me in that day.Editing
I used Lightroom, with no presets in mind, only adjustments based on the photo itself, I wanted to give a special treatment to green and blue to add some drama and contrast, I also used a lineal filter to reduce the excess of light in the sky.In my camera bag
My Camera bag Is always equipped with my 60D, a 18-55, a 50mm, and a 75-300 lenses, I also have a inverter ring for macro, and I use to carry with me some pieces of colored glass for glare effects. Sometimes I carry a Yongnuo flash.Feedback
Try to carry with you your gear everytime the situation sounds promising, don't be afraid to look silly in strange positions or angles, and shoot many many photos, buy a big memory so you never run out of space.
