Behind The Lens
Location
This picture was taken at the Morton Arboretum in Illinois while my husband and I were driving the main path to get to the next trail. The car in front of us stopped and we had no choice but to stop then we noticed this hawk in the tree, the other car had the same idea taking pictures from the open window of his care as well. Photography is new to me and I continue to learn the more pictures I take.Time
This picture was taken between 8 and 9 in the morning and it was just lucky I had the right lens on the camera when the hawk was seen. It seemed as if he was just sitting there waiting for his picture to be taken.Lighting
There was no special lighting used, just natural sunlight.Equipment
This was shot with a Nikon D3500 using a Nikon AF-P Nikkor 70-300mm1:4.5-6.3GED lens with no other equipment used.Inspiration
I love taking pictures of nature and it is rare for me to see animals in the wild. Once we seen the hawk in the tree I just had to take a picture, I actually took a few and this one happens to be the best of them. I have seen hawks in flight but never one sitting on a branch that was not high up in the tree.Editing
I used the Auto selection on the camera and used Adobe Photoshop Elements just to sharpen the picture up a little. In my camera bag
I carry my Nikon D3500 along with my 70-300mm lens and my AF-P Nikkor 18-55mm lens, I normally use my 18-55 lens since I normally do not take pictures of things that this lens can not handle. Since I have only been taking pictures for a short time I have not really invested in larger lenses or more equipment.Feedback
Keep your eyes open, if the care in front of us hadn't stopped we may not have noticed the hawk. When it comes to wild animals you never know when they will appear, I missed taking a shot of a coyote trotting across a field because I wasn't paying attention. Always be prepared and ready to change lenses quickly if necessary.
