Location
The photo was taken in front of a community center and golf course.Time
I absolutely love this image. I went to the preserve at the end of the community for a nice morning nature walk. On my home I saw this family of Sandhill Cranes, I was in awe and luckily I had my camera with me. I parked and walk slowly towards them as they were walking together across the field. I'd lay down on the ground and just start clicking away. They stopped and the parents were feeding and then helping their littles ones feed. The moment was magical! I followed them keeping my distance and they allowed me to get pretty close for these memorable moments. Photo was taken on March 27, 2013 at 11:34 AM.Lighting
I wanted the images to look natural and then given a slight pop.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon EOS 7D Mark II with a 70-200mm lens.Inspiration
I could not resist the opportunity! When driving by and then seeing this beautiful family with 2 young cranes my photographic inspiration automatically kicked in.Editing
Minimal post-processing was used. Just a slight enhancement of color and vignette was applied. In my camera bag
Generally my go to is my Canon 5D Mark III, but I also have a Canon 7D Mark III that I love as well. I have a variety of lenses available depending on what sparks my interest at the time. One of my favorites is a Sigma 70-200mm and Tamron 28-75mm, for portraits I have Canon 85mm and 50mm. I also carry a Sigma 10-20mm. Some fun lenses I also use are by Lensbaby. I enjoy soft florals and Lensbaby has the perfect lenses for me to be artistically creative with.Feedback
Lots of Patience and Determination to get as close as possible to get that perfect shot. Constant movement a bit of distance because birds are always on the go and you don't want to scare them away.
