Behind The Lens

Location

I took this image in a park in Toulouse i regularly visit at different times of day searching for light, subjects and myself.

Time

It was taken in January 5th at 10am.

Lighting

There was still some mist in the air and it was a cloudy day. The light was soft and gave a magic feeling.

Equipment

I used an Olympus om-d e-m10 mark III with the Kit 14-42mm f3.5/5.6 EZ. No other equipment involved. Settings were 14mm, f5.6, 1/1600 ISO 1600. Aperture priority.

Inspiration

I was experimenting with iso since i just came from receiving it as a gift (i had been shooting with my phone for two and a half years prior to get the camera). The trees really caught my eye, the light was beautiful and after i saw that small clearing i thought it would give me a sense of mystery and fantasy. Took several images at different settings and this one was my favorite.

Editing

I tried to emphasize the small clearing and giving it a sense of winter by working the white balance. I also worked the contrast a bit and desaturated the greens just a tiny bit.

In my camera bag

As of now I have the aforementioned camera and two kit lenses (the other one is the 40-150mm f4/5.6 R). I'm a passionate beginner and for now, that's about it!

Feedback

I would try and search for the right time of day in the right season, to get the right light that helps convey the feeling one's trying to express.
