Behind The Lens
Location
A moment in time. It was an autumnal sort of a day, crisp and clear. I was down at the south coast in Wellington NZ where a stream flows to the sea, pooling at its journey's end. Covid was starting to make headlines but little did any of us know what was about to unfold. This reflection attracted my attention. A fenceline marking the boundary between the light and shadow. Premonition? I doubt it! Very nice to be recognised...thanks Viewbug!Time
Dog walking time! I love the challenge of the light even if it is the middle of the day! Sometimes we cant choose the time, but i have never been short of material to shoot even if it is noon.Lighting
This was shot around midday. I find that if you adjust your expectations and shooting style you can find fabulous compositions regardless of the time of day. So i never hesitate to take my camera no matter!Equipment
Just my eye, my Lumix GH5 and a standard lens.Inspiration
The transition from light to dark caused by the fence reflection fascinated me. Like a twilight zone!Editing
I shoot in raw and always process my images in Lightroom classic. Not much needed though. A contrast tweak and slight sharpening was all i did.In my camera bag
i always carry at least one camera. on a workday i just take my Lumix 2500 a bridge zoom camera. But in freetime i take either the GH5 or the G9 withe me with a handful of lenses to select from when i get on location. If the weather is wild, i carry both cameras and preselect my lenses carefully so i dont have to expose the sensor to lens change dangers!Feedback
Keep your eyes open and expect the unexpected. I go to many places repeatedly but get such different shots depending on time of day, weather and my mood!
