Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Whitton, New South Wales. It is overlooking the disused cricket ground with the vineyards of McGuigan Wines beyond the shadows.

Time

This was taken very late in the day at the height of Summer. It is the perfect time of day and year to go for an evening stroll.

Lighting

As it was dusk and the shadows were creeping across the field I had to position myself so as to avoid getting patches or darker spots. The light changed dramatically depending on your point of view.

Equipment

As I was just on an afternoon stroll I had no special equipment. I used my phone, a Nokia 7.2. The plus is that the camera is actually a 48 Megapixel high definition lens and has light amplification.

Inspiration

I had that feeling of, if I don't take this shot I'll be kicking myself. It was a pure case of Right Place, Right Time.

Editing

The only adjustment I did with this shot in post-production was to centre the flow of the clouds.

In my camera bag

I always have my phone ready but apart from that, when I'm on z photographic mission I have my instant camera, a Konica Minolta DX which has optical zoom for quick shots and a Canon DSLR for more static shots where I have time. I also carry two tripods, one six foot extendable one and a twelve inch micro tripod. Depends upon the location as to which tripod I use

Feedback

The one peice of advice I would give any photographer is to expect a photo opportunity at anytime and anywhere.
