Left home in Cincinnati for week on Emerald Isle, NC with son’s family. A great week ended with a hurricane. Had planned to stay on a week but stretched it to three. Time to relax and catch the moments. Heaven.Time
This was early morning, the day of hurricane. The wind had pushed clouds in for a couple days, still some light from sun, overall sense of foreboding.Lighting
The sun had risen but clouds were thickening creating a dark sky though sun was still pushing light through.Equipment
I carried my 35 mm Canon but found I was using my IPhone more and more. So this is a 6S, I believe. I am now using the iPhone 11 XS Max.Inspiration
Every beach inspires me to take photos, especially with interesting light, morning, evening, or storms. My son and I walked before his leaving-he worried about storm. That set the tone photo & editing.Editing
The freedom of digital IPhone shots are fun. Just cropped & played with tone and intensity. The “shadow” is dark sand left as the water retreats creating waves that “hover” - I told kids it’s where I hid from storm. In my camera bag
Somewhat embarrassed but now I always have my phone at ready, hanging on a crossbody holder. Sometimes bring extra charger.Feedback
I love shooting before & after big storms. The changing wind, storm front, and strange clouds combine with light creating this expectation of a “shadow” or “hover waves”
