Location
This shot was a spur of the moment photo taken in Downtown Phoenix, Arizona. I got the idea when I realized how long the traffic light was taking to change.Time
This photo was taken in March during the evening golden hour around 6:00pm.Lighting
I've always been a huge fan of backlighting especially during engagement shoots, as the photos tend to have a natural glow that I feel embodies the love the couple share for one another.Equipment
This shot was taken with a Canon 5D Mark III with a Canon EF50mm f/1.8 II.Inspiration
As we were moving from one location to another I noticed the sun peaked from out behind the buildings in just the way that the entire street lit up with a beautiful light. We ran into the street and snapped a few shots just as the lights began to change.Editing
Because this was a spur of the moment shot, and we were in direct traffic, I wasn't able to use a bounce to bring up some of the shadows during capture. During post I brought up some of the darker parts of the image, and color boosted just slightly. In my camera bag
On an engagement shoot such as this I will typically carry a Canon 5D Mark III, 85mm, 50mm, 70-200mm, 24-105mm, a external flash, tripod, and a bounce.Feedback
Check the weather before heading out, plan for the light, be familiar with the area, never be afraid to improvise, and don't get hit by passing cars.
