Behind The Lens

Location

I moved to Eastern Oregon about 9 yrs ago and found myself as a photographer. One morning mid Winter, stuck inside my daughter was sitting at my feet and asked to look through the pictures. I handed her my phone and leaned forward to watch the Baseball game on TV. Then I heard a giggle and looked down. Snapping away. It ended up one of my favorites.

Time

This was taken on a Sat. morning during Mid Winter. We were stuck in the house during a snow storm. The Winters here are unpredictable so we were waiting it out with hot chocolate and a Baseball Game.

Lighting

This picture was actually just a fluke. All the heavy black out curtains I hung up for winter were closed. The livingroom was lit mostly by a lamp and a small crack in the curtains. Emily did not turn the flash on, yet this one out of 6 was the only one to come out. It is a tad blurry but the lighting was spectacular.

Equipment

This picture was taken on my cell phone. As every picture I have taken. I do not have the money for Camara equipment. No flash was used. A Galaxy 6 Edge.

Inspiration

My daughter Emily actually took this picture. She came and sat down on the floor infront of me and snapped 6 pics in a row. This was the only one to turn out. I honestly thought about deleting it because of how blurry it it. This particular image turned out to be one of our favorites.

Editing

Since I do not own or use Camara equipment and Only have and use my cell phone, the only thing I did was push Sharpen 2ce to try to make it less blurry.

In my camera bag

I live in a very rural ranching town of 150 ppl. in the smallest county in Oregon. The next town over in either direction is 40 min. away. All my money has gone to my children. One just graduated college, one just entered college and the 3d is in 7th gr. who travels for auditions. She is a very talented singer. The only extra money I have is for a cell phone. I had a Galaxy 6 Edge then and a Galaxy 9 now. One day I would Love to be able to afford a Nikon Digital and possible back to basics film camera and build a Dark Room.

Feedback

Eastern Oregon is more like the High Deserts of the Mid West. The John Day River cuts right through and leads out to the Columbia River. If you ever get a chance as an outdoor enthusiast and love hiking, I highly recommend you come out for a few days. We are right off The Oregon Trail with so much history I am still learning about. Parking along the river at 6 am is highly recommended. The Bald and Golden Eagles come out to feed and dive right down into the water. The Painted Hills are beautiful right after the rain and all the colors come alive.
