Location
This the Bregagh Road in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. It is locally known as the 'Dark Hedges' and was used as location in the series 'Game of Thrones'.Time
In the afternoon at 16:44 on the 11th March 2015.Lighting
A low sun in the sky gave long shadows of the trees across the road.Equipment
Canon 5d mounted on a tripod, using a Canon 24-105 IS USM. No filters were used.Inspiration
The location is now a major tourist attraction, but in 2015 it was rare to find anybody around the road. It has an 'other world' feel to it and the trees intertwine over the road.Editing
I used Photoshop 5 for the basic processing of the 5 images and Photomatix to combine the images into an HDR image. In my camera bag
Camera, Batteries x 4, Lens cloth, Neutral filter, Grad filter, Polarizer, memory card. Canon 24-105 and Canon 16-35 lenses.Feedback
HDR has a bad name, but when not over cooked, it will give a slight surreal result, that can add to the feel of the image. Try the process and see what the result yields. Failing all else, you have still got the zero stop photo to work with.
