Behind The Lens

Location

On the Bradford road near Corsham

Time

Around 2.00 - 3.00 pm in July I think. My Father-In-Law told me about it some time before I was able to visit and take the picture.

Lighting

After being repeatedly told that I should go to see this field I finally managed to find the time to do so. Upon arrival, I decided to opt for a wide angle lens at close proximity to the edge of the field and set the camera on a tripod to allow considered framing of the flowers. Unfortunately, at that time the sky was just a bleached white and really uninspiring but with the sun at my back I decided to make the best of it. Unbelievably, after a moment the sky began to darken and it really looked like it was going to rain. The other photographers there (there were a few) started to panic and left the scene but I saw that this could produce something special. The clouds in the background closed in and darkened but those above cleared allowing the light to fall on the flowers. What luck!! Right place, right time.

Equipment

The camera was a Canon EOS 600 with a 28-70 lens set at 28mm, shot on film.

Inspiration

As above

Editing

Some digital effects on the overall image but the lighting and sky is as taken.

In my camera bag

Canon EOS 70D with 24-85 lens
