Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico on a vacation trip there.

Time

We were walking around the streets of Old San Juan and I looked across the street and saw the bus stop. I was intrigued by the false doorway and the roots crumbling the wall.

Lighting

It was slightly overcast, not too bright or strong sunlight.

Equipment

I used my Niko D100 with the Tamron AF 28-300 MM zoom lense. Hand held and leaning against a building.

Inspiration

I was thinking, why didn't they remove the roots and fix the wall when they closed in the doorway right near there. I also wondered if the roots broke through to the inside of the wall. And also, how long was the plant on the balcony to propogate such a strong root system...

Editing

I converted the image to B&W in Photoshop.

In my camera bag

On vacation trips, I usually just take the one camera, Nikon D100 with the Tamron AF 28-300 MM zoom lense. I am really familiar with the camera and love the versatility of this lense.

Feedback

Carry a camera always on vacation. Shoot it when you see it, there will be no going back! The ordinary is often extaordinary, soak it in.
