If you like this beautiful nature image, please don't vote for POLLUTER Trump. GLOBAL WARMING, U.S.A( the ONLY COUNTRY in the WORLD) definitely left the COP 21 in 2019. SHAME ON HIM. POOR EARTH !

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken along the Black Spur in Melbournes Yarra Valley. I've been fortunate enough to call the Yarra Valley my home for 35 years and very lucky to have this kind of scenery right on my door step.

Time

This was taken towards the end of April at around 10:30 in the morning. As the altitude is up over 700m you can get away with having a bit of a sleep in and still see some fog later in the morning

Lighting

The Black Spur is a gorgeous drive no matter the weather conditions, but when you get fog drifting through the magnificently tall mountain ash trees and the lush green ferns underneath, the whole vibe just turns magical. The fog created all the gorgeous natural light I needed for this image.

Equipment

My Nikon D750 paired with Nikkor 14-24 2.8 worked perfectly. Wide enough to reach right up to show just how tall the fern and the surrounding trees were.

Inspiration

I wanted to come away with something different, something I hadn't seen done at this location before. It has become a popular place for many photographers over the last couple of years. Having something unique from a place shot many times is very rewarding.

Editing

This image looks black and white but it was not edited that way! The high contrast from shooting upwards have given this effect. Shot in raw, I only did some minimal adjustments. Nice and simple, just the way I like it.

In my camera bag

The essentials for my camera bag are.... Nikon D750, Nikkor 14-24 2.8, Nikkor 24-70 2.8. A Nisi filter kit and my Sirui tripod. I always bring my DJI spark along too... you never know when it might come in handy.

Feedback

Hmmm advice... try changing up your perspective, looking at things differently can open up lots of exciting opportunities. The conditions can change quickly up here so be prepared for the fog to clear but then blow back in just a quickly as it disappeared.
