@leahathome Love your submission to Inspired By The World! Have an almost identical valley highway which is flanked by peaks, here in Colorado.

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on a trip through the icefield parkway in Alberta on the way to Jasper.

Time

We are on the way to Prince George PC in March to visit my son who attends the University at UNBC. This photo was on the journey during the mid morning as we made our way North.

Lighting

The light in the mountains can either make the mountains look hazy or clear as a bell. Luckily I cut the ladder and was also able to get a clear highway so the lighting turned out well The light in the mountains can either make the The lighting in the mountains Can either look hazy or clear as a bell. Luckily I caught the latter and was also able to get an empty highway.

Equipment

This was shot with my Sony alpha 77-ll and I used the top off the car as my tripod. At that time of year there aren’t a lot of tourists so I was able to wait for the highway to be empty and it didn’t take very long.

Inspiration

There are so many places on the icefield parkway that completely astonish your eyes. This was one of the many spots along the way where I made my long-suffering husband stop the car.

Editing

I do use light room for my photos. I prefer not to add colour but I sometimes enhance light or add contrast This picture did not need a lot of adjustments however I did lighten the highway a bit.

In my camera bag

When I travel away from home I have my full photography backpack with cleaning supplies, a macro lens and a telephoto lens a tripod and monopod a lot of batteries and a lens ball.

Feedback

You can’t go wrong in the Rockies especially on this beautiful drive through the ice field the parkway, but you will always get your best photos in the morning or evening because it can get very hazy during the day.
