Location
I was taking a walk in the Pines, enjoying the the breezes humming through the branches. I heard duck's and turned quick enough to get off a few shots. I love ducks, and they were coming for me, hoping I had something for them!Time
It was early morning, while the world was still waking up.Lighting
The lighting was tricky because the sky was overcast. I had to make sure that there was no bright reflection from the sky or the water.Equipment
This was shot with a Nikon D7000 I had purchased a couple of years ago, but it hadn't seen my action. I used a Nikkor set length zoom lens of 200mm, with no flash of course.Inspiration
Seeing the tall pine trees reflecting across the water, and the mist floating on the surface of the pond, made me want to capture that fragile moment. Then the ducks made it perfect.Editing
I never do much to my photos except maybe some cropping and a little color boosting. I like my landscapes to look natural. In my camera bag
That can vary at any given time! It all depends on where I'm going, how long I'll be there and what I want to capture. My Nikon 7000 is usually my choice, but I do trade off with my 7200, which has other features I can use. Most of the time I take a preliminary picture with my cell camera to see how I might best frame the picture, but sometimes I just don't have time to do that!Feedback
I always try to capture a small scene, and then see what's outside the perimeter and if it will add or detract to the shot. I also try to include something in the foreground that will tie up the scene without it looking too wide open.
