Behind The Lens
Location
I took this photo very spontaneously on my front porch while relaxing with my dog.Time
It was early afternoon and we had both come back from an after lunch walk at around 2 pm.Lighting
I am a self-taught photographer with very limited funding so I rely on natural and available lighting for almost all of my shots. For this particular shot, the sun was actually behind the house so there was no direct sunlight, but it was all diffused by the clouds.Equipment
I shot this handheld with my Canon EOS Rebel T7 with a Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens.Inspiration
It is not uncommon for my dog to assume this watchful position over our home, but something about the diffused lighting and his pensive stares really caught my attention.Editing
I touched up the photo in Lightroom. Probably the most notable edit was in the contrast and in darkening the shadows in the background. In my camera bag
My first camera bag, which was unfortunately stolen, contained my Canon camera, a 50mm lens, a 55-250mm lens, and a gorilla pod.Feedback
Focus on an emotion you want to pass on, and try to really embody it as you take your pictures.
