Behind The Lens

Location

I took it at Skadar Lake in Montenegro (Crna Gora). Skadar Lake is the largest lake at the Balkan Peninsula and is also a National Park.

Time

By waking up early in the morning we could be the first to come with the boat and it was then possible to see several fishermen on the way.

Lighting

Early in the morning is a good time because there was nearly no wind and the light was already good to avoid to much noise.

Equipment

I used two cameras to be able to take every opportunity : a Nikon D500 with a Tamron 150-600mm and a D850 with Nikkor 70-200. As the boat was moving, I had to use a high speed enough to avoid blur.

Inspiration

I liked the scenery and the reflection in the water and also the mix of colors. All of this made the best place to capture the fisherman and his small boat.

Editing

A cropped the image a little bit to have a better composition. Only light processing to keep the image as natural as possible.

In my camera bag

A Nikon D500 with a Tamron 150-600mm and a D850 with Nikkor 70-200, i also had a wide-angle 18-35mm. I also have the Nikon 14-24mm and the Sigma 35mm ART,

Feedback

The best time in the day is to be very early (7h00 at least). And because of the boat, pay attention to the speed that has to be high enough to avoid blur due to boat movements.
