Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo on my way out of a preserve near my house. I watched him fly overhead and sat on a fence of someone's house. This shot was actually taken out of my car window.

Time

It was around 6:00pm just as the sun was setting.

Lighting

The sun was perfect for this quick shot. I had to adjust to the lower lighting and bump my ISO.

Equipment

Nikon D80 with a Sigma 500 lens.

Inspiration

This was the first time I saw this guy sitting still.

Editing

I adjusted the temperature to bring out some more of the blues.

In my camera bag

Extra batteries, short and long focal lenses, external flash.

Feedback

Be ready for a shot just to appear. Don't be afraid to just roll down a window and shoot. Learn your camera so you can make quick changes to get the picture. I only had about a minute to get the shot.
