I took this shot during a Holocaust remembrance trip to Poland. it was a very long day and we heard a lot of tough stories about people losing their humanity and life because of the Holocaust and the war. We were on our way back to the hotel and I saw my friend looking through the window. I could tell a million things were going through his mind so I decided to take a shot of it. I took it to capture his emotions and the moment, I had some kind of feeling in my gut that I should focus on him instead of anyone else on the bus. Later, I asked him what he was thinking about during this moment and he told me that he thought about all the people that lost their lives and how terrible it was. Then he told me " When I think about them I see my reflection instead". I smiled and told him "Well I got something for you" and then showed him this shot. When he shared what went through his head during this moment this shot got a lot more meaning for me. As in the aftermath, this shot is very meaningful for both of us. It also reflects and shows what happens during the Holocaust remembrance trips to Poland. This shot was taken on March 22nd, 2019 in a village somewhere near Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp
