Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken at WWT Martin Mere wetlands and Safari park Fish Ln, Burscough, Ormskirk L40 0TA

Time

This was taken after sitting on a bench around noon. I had sat there watching the mannerisms. This particular Mandarin duck was very inquisitive and was easily coerced with some bird feed and was very friendly

Lighting

It was a sunny day just before noon and the sun was behind me shinning straight on the Duck

Equipment

I used the Nikon Coolpix P900 in Manual mode hand held. Settings were as follows: AP F5.6 SS 1/200 ISO 200 No flash.

Inspiration

This was my first outing with a proper camera. Previously I used my phone. I love all types of wildlife and when I seen this particular Mandarin Duck the vibrances of his colours were spectacular

Editing

It was lightly edited on snapseed with +10 highlight and -5 shadows. There was nothing else needed

In my camera bag

I have Nikon Coolpix P900 Olympus OMD-EM10-markiii M.zuiko 14mm to 42mm F3.5 to 5.6 M.zuiko 40mm to 150mm F4 to 5.6 M.zuiko 45mm F1.8

Feedback

To have paitence, watch your subject to learn the mannerisms, watch the weather too as things change second to second. I would also say do as much research for your equipment and take as many photos as you can as that perfect shot you could miss, you Can always delete the ones you don't like. But 1st enjoy what you are photographing
