Location
The location is called Bilgers Rocks. The occasion was a photo shoot with a group of cosplayers hence the costuming.Time
Mid afternoon, I don't remember exactly. It wouldn't have mattered much anyway we were under dense canopyd.Lighting
no nothing remarkable. This was a natural light shot.Equipment
Canon 1D MK IV, Canon EF 70 - 200 F2.8, that's it. nice and simple.Inspiration
The inspiration came from the players them selves. These two reminded me of the Big Bad Wolf stalking Little Red Riding Hood and they cooperated nicely on the setup and posing. This was the end result.Editing
Oh Yes, I shoot raw exclusively so processing is a must and I use Lightroom 99% of the time. Simply it is get your white point and exposure correct. Next set Black point, white point, shadows, and highlights. Sharpen and clean up noise, and that's about it.In my camera bag
Usually my 1D MK IV, the EF 70-200, a sigma wide angle zoom and my speed light. That's the basics. I have a considerable collection to choose from but they come out when job specifics demand it.Feedback
For this kind of work you need to be with the right kind of people. These guys are cosplayers and their costumes can be quite elaborate. Find a group like them and join them. We shoot four maybe five times a year. The models like to dress up but it's not fun if no one is around to see it so they invite photographers into the group. The rest is to think out of the box and look for the possibilities.
