Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in a small village that is located near Hsipaw, Northern Shan State, Myanmar (Burma).

Time

The photo was taken when I was taking a stroll at around 5:30pm, just before the sunset. And it was a clear day.

Lighting

I took this photo by placing the subject in front of the sun. Because the first reason is that I wanted to capture the photo with soft nature light and secondly, I will want to create a a beautiful catch light on the subject’s eyes.

Equipment

This photos was taken with Sony A7r ii with FE 35mm f/.2.8 Zeiss Lens. There are no other equipments involved in take this photo.

Inspiration

When I approach the subject, he felt a bit frightened and started to stare at the camera. And I was amazed my his eyes, so I saw an opportunity to camera that moment.

Editing

The main post-processing work is turning the coloured image into Black and White image to show clear expression of the subject.

In my camera bag

I usually have Sony A7r ii with two prime lens which are 35mm and 85mm. I don’t usually carry tripod and light equipments when I am travelling.

Feedback

Always lookout for unique expressions and the eyes of the people. Because that can make the photos feels alive.
