jacobeen house built in 1611by robert cecil 1st earl of salisbury. has been the cecil home ever since .currently the home of robert gascoyne cecil 7th maquess of salisbury .part of a earlier building still remains a short way from the house built in 1497 .queen elizabeth spent a lot of time at hatfield ,the house is open to the public .
