Behind The Lens

Location

I am an active duty part-time professional photographer. I took this for another active duty friend of mine. They have a beautiful family and I was honored and delighted to capture this awesome photo his little girl!

Time

We purposely took this photo during golden hour on Fort Belvoir. We were able to capture this photo with the sun hitting her just right.

Lighting

Natural light, a great lens and good composition.

Equipment

Sony a6300, Sigma 56mm f1.8

Inspiration

Inspiration was solely from the energy I got from the beautiful little girl! LOVED IT! One of my favorite shoots...really only lasted about 30 minutes!

Editing

Simple post-processing in Adobe Lightroom.

In my camera bag

I have often changed my gear out in the last 10 years of shooting. This particular time I had just acquired this kit and I wasn't sure how it would perform, so I played it conservative. I typically have not been a "prime lens shooter", but now I'm a believer!

Feedback

Always look for the best situations to shoot. Prepare as much as possible (gear ready, arrive early, etc.). Exude the excitement, confidence and attitude you want your subject to portray in the images you create!
