Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at the “little storm lake” in Storm Lake, Iowa in October.

Time

Every evening I would head to the little lake just before sunset. Some days, there was not much to shoot, and others it was breathtaking! My husband was studying for an exam on this particular night, so, I stayed longer than usual. The post color explosions was so dramatic, I feel in love with this time of night at the lake!

Lighting

I used the tripod and did a slow exposure to allow more light. I just kept adjusting and extending the shutter speed until there was no kore light from the sunset.

Equipment

Canon Rebel T6i, tripod, and the Canon 28-70mm 1:2.8 L lens.

Inspiration

I was taken in by how peaceful the last bit of light on the lake was.

Editing

I use Photoshop, and I may have adjusted the clarity, texture, and white light.

In my camera bag

I usually have my Canon Rebel T6i, the Canon 28-70 and the 70-200 L series lenses, a Meike 85mm, and my Canon 50mm 1.4, some filters, a lot of batteries, SD cards, and chargers with an inverter for my truck!

Feedback

Be patient, persistent, and confident that you will get the shot! Timing is everything!
