december 17th 2019 @ tathra wharf. went camping and mtb riding for a couple days before the xmas rush at work. only to arrive in a total fire ban. was a eerie feeling staying at various campgrounds in the bermagui and tathra region. I'm looking forward to going back and camping again. as we didn't really have a summer due to the horrible bushfires that swept through the south east of our country, with the bushfires still happening but they have taken a backseat now in media as all the talk is of the horrible effects of the world wide spread of corona virus

Behind The Lens

Location

tathra wharf. i was on 1 of my many camping and mtb trips to the beautiful region of tathra and bermagui before the xmas holiday rush at work. only to arrive in a total fire ban. it was an eerie feeling at the campgrounds at night in the region. I'm looking forward to going camping again, as we didn't really have a summer due to the horrible bushfires that swept through the south east of our country. even though the official bushfire season has ended some regions are still experiencing bushfires but these have now taken a backseat in the media and they have turned there attention to the world wide spread of corona virus.

Time

the shot was taken at around 6am in the morning on december the 17th 2019. you can tell i was in full camping/holiday mode as when at home i don't normally wake up till after 10am and go straight to work with working shift work during the day then back again at night. i usually get my sleep in the am. chef life.

Lighting

ive seen some beautiful sunrises and sunsets in various countries around the world. but i still love the ones we have in australia. but in all honesty id say there was a fair bit of bushfire smoke in the atmosphere helping me along

Equipment

here i was using a polarpro nd8-gr filter on a dji mavic air.

Inspiration

honestly i was just taking a panorama shot of the sunrise over tathra beach and this shot actually turned out to be pretty good

Editing

adobe photoshop camera raw to merge the shots. I'm no whiz on the computer or photoshop so i can guarantee there is no image trickery going on here

In my camera bag

all depends on where I'm going or what I'm doing. but on a hike ill have either my dji mavic air or 3dr solo drone with a gopro 4 black and a gopro karma grip with hero 5 black and always my phone samsung s10+

Feedback

honestly its just trail and error and waiting for the light to hit that sweet spot. like the recent shot i uploaded i think i took 10 panorama shots from the same spot just waiting for the light to get just right
