Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken as my family and I were exploring Bologna for the first time. Life in the city is best seen in the narrow pathways between buildings where markets and small shops are found.

Time

The photo was taken in the evening just as the sky began to turn a little dark, and shop and street lights were turned on.

Lighting

There was enough daylight left to illuminate the shot but most of the light comes from the ambience of the shop lights in the alley.

Equipment

Nikon D7500

Inspiration

I almost walked past the display from the flower shop before realizing how beautiful they were. But they seemed to blend in with the area, so I decided to make them the focus.

Editing

I use photoshop to create HDR images of my photos and overlay them with the original, to make the colors pop and scene come to life but without taking away any realism. I then used Lightroom to get the right feel for the scene.

In my camera bag

I travel to various cities in Italy and the rest of Europe with my family, and therefore only carry my camera around my next to capture memories. Unless I plan on shooting something specific, I leave all other equipment at home.
