This photograph of Portland Head Lighthouse was taken in Cape Elizabeth Maine overlooking the southern entrance of Casco Bay. The lighthouse is accessible through Fort Willams Park.Time
The photograph was taken on a hot summer day on August 18, 2019 at 5:21pm.Lighting
The lighting was summer afternoon light. The angles of the lighthouse allow for great afternoon and late afternoon lighting with the light highlighting the proper angles from the views point of view,Equipment
For this photograph I used my IPhone 8.Inspiration
It was actually a combination of boredom and willingness to drive a couples of hours to capture this lighthouse in these late afternoon lighting condition. The bonus was the fog rolling in. At the time I decided to head of too the lighthouse I was inland far away from the coast with temperatures in the high 80's, I had forgot how cooler the coast would be. The fog was the icing on the case from the hot air mixing with the cooler air late in the day, setting up the condition of this photograph.Editing
I did some adjusting to the photograph using the processing features on the IPhone 8, some lighting, color warmth and contrast. In my camera bag
My camera is outfitted with the Olympus Evolt E-510 DSLR with a Zuiko14-42mm and a 40-150mm, including a remote, cable release and a tripod and an IPhone 8.Feedback
As for advice, always expect photographs to happen. As a landscape photographer conditions for the moments are always changing, sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse. Always learn something from someone else or experience because the more you learn, you will be able to adapt to the situation and you will be able to make adjustments to capture the moment. With all the features of cameras these day with the addition of processing software almost instant results can be seen as soon as you take the photograph. So you can make adjustments on the fly. Don't be afraid to take photographs, document what you see and adjust accordingly while taking the photograph and then after and you will get better and better results.
