A gorgeous Tiger shark (Galeocerdo cuvier) glides along the white Bahamian sandy bottom of Tiger Beach escorted by a baitfish just above.
These kind of special and unique close encounters with these top ocean predators can safely happen with understanding, caution, but most importantly, respect for big sharks.
Contrary to what the media portrays these keystone species as, they are not mindless killing machines nor do they seek out humans as part of their diet.
These animals very much have unique personalities and we must continue to educate about the senseless killings from finning, shark tournament trophy fishing, and bycatch.
