Reserva Natural Laguna Salada de Pétrola
Aquatic ecosystem of great singularity that brings life, nature and leisure to its adjacent municipalities. Located at 860 meters of altitude, its southern end practically gets into the urban center of Pétrola.This lagoon is one of the province's most interesting wetlands, since it maintains an important waterfowl community, being an ideal site for Ornithological tourism practice. At dusk, in spring, you can see the arrival of flocks of ducks and courtship stops of nesting species. During the fall and winter, the passage of migratory birds and the arrival of flocks of wintering birds can be observed.

The salinity of the waters of the lagoon can easily overcome that of the sea water. This peculiarity and seasonal changes in its shades are mainly due to the natural biogeochemical processes that are currently taking place under the bottom of the lagoon. These processes, which give rise to very striking springs, print a particular “biological and geological footprint” that is exclusive to this Manchego wetland.
